I use a Canon Powershot 650, 8 megapixels. I love it because of the viewfinder that swivels and allows me to take pics at all sorts of angles. I've been inside my tomato vines snapping pics of the undersides of leaves, etc. Good article! I NEVER was interested in photography or pixels or anything BG (before gardening). Now, I grab my cellphone almost every time I'm outside, 'cause I'll see a great photo op!
Here's the best garden pic I have ever taken completely by accident!
Good morning, Ben. Currently I have a Canon PowerShot SD870 IS, which is better than that old Kodak pioneer digital camera I had, but not as great at closeups as I would like. DH's Nikon is better for that.
Excellent information here and I'm printing your article to keep for reference. Thank you for your research. Here's an oakleaf hydrangea blooming in my Asheville garden:
Yes Great info, I also saved your article so that when I have the option of buying a new camera I can show it to my DH. He's the shopper in the family.
Great Pictures E1.
The Powershot's color reproduction looks great!
I just thought I would like the rugged Stylus. I can take it with me anywhere and I can free dive down to 30 feet when visiting the USVI. Here is a not so flattering review, http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/olympus/stylus_1030sw-revi... a picture using the macro feature without a tripod.
First, that is an amazing shot of your tomatoes. Nice one. The best shots are always the accidents. I have a small bookcase near the sliding glass doors that lead to my garden. This is where I keep my camera equipment because it is something I grab along with sun block or any other gardening essential. The camera you mention is very nice and well done on that beautiful shot!
Hi Angie and Good Morning to you! Though it is afternoon there now.
I love that photo. You are near Ashville? Good to know. I will be there next year if not sooner for another conference. I will have to come say hi. What sort of Nikon does DH have? I thank you so kindly Angie and wish you nothing but the best!
Hi Darla!
Thank you kindly for your that wonderful compliment. I know this is VERY condensed and anyone considering buying a camera will have a multitude of questions. I will be very happy to answer any and all questions and help in any way I can. Even AFTER you buy the camera.
Hi Wayfarers!
The Stylus is a VERY good camera and a good recommendation. It is comparable to a Powershot and the glass on this camera is quite good as your image illustrates. Thank you so much for adding that camera and sharing your photo.
I thank you all again very kindly and wish you luck in the world of taking photos in the garden!!
