I usually skim through these articles and look for the 'important part' that will give me the information I need, but I could not stop reading this wonderful article. You should write short stories for a living; you definitely have the gift. I love learning about herbs and their medicinal properties, but that took a back seat to your story of Callie Mae and her stone tea. I will read you story again and again. Thank you! gardengirl86
Gardengirl, how nice to hear from you. There are lots more stories where this one came from that you might enjoy. Nice to know because I love writing them. Just click on my name if you want more, there are several here on DG.
It's the history of the plants and their uses that I love, and that I enjoy writing about. It has been fun remembering them.
Thanks so much, I hope your NE rains have cleared up.

Sharon,
As gardengirl86 says you are a wonderful story teller and an educator as well. You always bring a smile. You certainly "ain't ain't nobody m'am".

Ohioriverboy, if you live in any part of KY, you just must be kinfolks! And I am sure you can identify. I don't know a thing about the plants out west or the tropicals down south, but those that grow for us are ingrained in my soul.
So good to hear from you. Thanks for writing and letting me know.
Hope your gardens grow well over there in the NE.
