i have some bell pepper plant in pots and they are full of bloons and tiny little peppers how long will it take for then to make also I have a tomatoe plant that is huge ,but it only has 1 tomatoe on it blooms but the blooms fall off and no tomatoes why
Tomato flowers have both the male and female parts within the one flower (as opposed to plants such as pumpkin with separate male and female flowers). The pollen needs to somehow get onto the female parts of the flower, usually via wind or insect activity. If you don't have many bees to do the job, try buzzing the back of the flower when the petals are folded wide open with an electric toothbrush (I use this method). Your pollination rate and therefore fruiting rate should hopefully increase.
pattycake - it might be too hot where you are for tomatoes to set fruit right now. Once the weather cools off, they should start setting fruit again. Albinus is correct about tomatoes being wind pollinated. I've never tried the toothbrush trick - sounds ticklish (giggle)
Grab the tomato stalks firmly and give em a good shaking evry now and then. This'll send some pollen flying! Keep your tomatoes happy through the August heat and you should have a bountiful Thanksgiving table! Linda
