After losing and replacing a couple of plants and adding another one, I ended up with 17 tomato plants this year. 4 Big Beef Hybrid, 4 Steak Sandwich Hybrid, 1 Ball's Beefsteak Hybrid, 1 Lemon Boy Hybrid, 2 Dr. Wyche's Yellow, 2 German Red Strawberry, 2 Gold Medal, and 1 German Queen.
All my plants have green tomatoes now, and the hybrids are really loaded with them. If I'm going to keep growing some hybrids, I'm going to have to cut back the number of plants still further in future years. We're going to have loads of tomatoes, but I haven't had any ripe ones yet.
Today, I spotted two tomatoes turning color and almost ready to pick. They're both Steak Sandwich, on different plants. It's 66 days since I transplanted into the garden, so I think that's pretty early. Garden Salsa time is almost here!
