Great article on Long's Garden. I really regret that I was unable to go there with you. Some of us from the Rocky Mt. Forum stopped at Lowell Baumunk's Iris Colorado in Littleton on the way back from the Denver Botanical Garden Sale. It was very early in the iris season but he had many beauties in bloom.
The good thing about visiting an iris farm in your neck of the woods is that you know the iris you choose will grow in your area. Sounds like you got a bargain as well.
Hope we can make such a trip next year. I would love to visit Iris -4-U, actually in Denver.
Susanne, Thank you so much for the article.
I've ordered most of mine from Schriners in Oregon and was delighted to find there was one in MO. Will start planning a trip soon.
Don't guess you're into Daylillys. My other passion. LOL
Paja I would love to go visit both of those places next year. Long's was really a treat - I had planned to go to Iris 4 U, but after traveling and digging I was spent, so another time!
Thanks Sharon and Cando - glad you like it.
I actually am getting into daylilies, Cando. This year I discovered the Lily Auction and have started tons of DL cross seeds and I can't wait to see blooms. Most of my daylilies are trades from friends, but I am getting into them now that they are blooming for me. Might have to see if there's some daylily farms around, won't I? :) Susanne
Susanne, I get most of my DL from Homestead farms in MO. He sends large fans in good shape. Also have got some from Oakes Daylillys in Tenn.
