Did you know...

entomologists study a grub's raster pattern in order to differentiate one white grub species from another.
And what is a raster pattern, you might be wondering? Let's just say that it involves taking a close look at the grub's tushie. Yes indeed, grubs are gross.

For all that they turn out differently as adult beetles, they are remarkably same as larvae. They all seem to have the same sort of shield behind their heads that remains in the adults, though.
