I'm rooting cuttings from my four tomato plants in Fafard 4P potting mix. I'm keeping them on my front porch, which gets a little bit of sun in the morning and then is shaded the rest of the day. On my way out the door this morning, I noticed that there is what appears to be white (fluffy?) mold growing on the top of the mix in two of the pots. I did not get to look closely because I was already behind schedule, PLUS I would have had to go through a huge spider web with Ms. Brown-Garden-Spider sitting smack-dab in the middle of it (uggggh-- could not deal with that first thing!).

When I get home tonight I'll be able to get a closer look, but I'm not sure what to do about this-- if the cuttings are "untouched" by the mold, can I just sprinkle some fungicide on the top of the mix or should I scrape off the mold, then use the fungicide? I have neem oil, and I also have Bonide Garden Dust (which I think is a combination of pyrethrins and copper). If the cuttings have any mold on them, will I have to ditch them and start over? What can I do (if anything) to keep this from happening again? It's so warm and humid here I'm not surprised it happened, but since they have been rooting for a little less than a week I don't know if I should move them into the sun... I'm guessing that sunlight would help prevent the mold, but that IS just a guess.

Is it normal for potting mix to get moldy like that and can I continue to use it? I just bought this Fafard last week and I was planning to use the rest of the bag in my Earthbox to grow the cuttings after they were well-rooted. Sorry about so many questions... I've just not seen or heard about this happening before!
