I have some of my violets on capillary mats, and some on grids. They are all wicked. I want to use physan 20, but don't know how much to 1 gallon of water. Do I use it just in the trays with the grids, or can I use it in the ones with the mats too? Here in Florida, I'm so afraid of breeding mosquitos that I don't want to start raising them in my violets. We are going to NY in August when my oldest granddaughter gets married, and will be gone for about 10 days. I'm hoping the violets survive. I figure if I fill up the trays to the top, they will be allright. The ones on the mats have me worried. Maybe I'll shut the lights off on those and cover the small ones with a dome. I'm hoping that works. At least with the physan in the trays, I won't worry about the mosquitos.

Many, many years ago, we had fish tanks set up in an extra bedroom. My hubby was in charge of the tanks. One summer, the motor or filter stopped working, and we found out when we had mosquitos in every room of the house when we started getting bit. We were 'raising' families of them in one of the tanks. The fish were gone and the mosquitos took over. Don't want to repeat that again.
