I have a small Rose Bush that was a named rose from my husband on our wedding day. I am really upset that this rose although it flowered beatifully in its pot this year around June the blooms fell off and then the whole plant turned black
I am so upset about this as it has so much sentimental value...any suggestions what I can do?
Can you post a picture? If literally the whole plant is black then I suspect it was probably too much water that caused it to rot, but if it's just lots of black spots on the leaves then it could just be black spot which is a common disease on roses (ugly but not usually fatal)
Did your whole plant turn black or is it the black spots on the leaf. wither way it is fungal disease for your rose plant. As ecrane said, the fungus is due to lot of water. you should not put water in cool weather. If it is very cold in the place where you live. Give some artificial light till the sun comes. The fungus stops spreading in warm weather and gets destroyed in the sun. Sun and water are the 2 reasons for life and blooming in roses.
