I was at a local nursery today looking for something else when I saw this incredible tree. They told me it wasn't for sale as it was the owner's personal tree (good, cause I don't think I could afford it). It was marked as "acer palmatum sishigashira" but when I look that up, the picture both in plant files and elsewhere, don't look like what I saw. The leaves on the tree I saw were very tiny and close together making it look almost, not quite, but if you exaggerated, like moss growing on the tree. It's the only way I can really think to describe it. Is there a wide variation within each variety that this was marked correctly, and I just haven't seen a picture like this particular tree, or do you think it was mislabeled? If mislabeled, anyone know what it could be? I can go back and get a picture but not until sometime next week.
thanks,
Kristen
