This is the absolutely STUNNING Calystegia hederacea (Japanese False Bindweed)!!! Many thanks to Ron for giving me Sally's name! She probably doesn't have a lot of this plant to share, so I feel really, really fortunate to be the thankful recepient of a couple of small starter rhizomes of this vine! THANK YOU, SALLY!!!
This vine is now one of my Top 10 favorite MGs!
And I now understand why some folks here (Beth?) love bindweed. If the White Wild American Bindweed looks anything like this vine, then it must be beautiful!
And to my absolute amazement, the bleach incident didn't seem to affect this vine. (Huge sigh of relief!)
Isn't this bloom a show-stopper? It is about 2" in size and looks like a peony or small rose bloom! I believe the blooms will be bigger as the plant gets larger. It is currently a very small vine. I have one other in a pot and it also has buds forming. Can ya see me smiling? :-) :-) :-) :-) I am doing the happy dance! :-D
