As you say in your article there are many look alike Irises. You only mention the large varieties which are grown just everywhere here in South Africa. Many of the large gardens or places where an area should be made attractive, but inexpensively, two of the Dieties are grown. In smaller gardens they just get too large and so there are many given away or dumped. I grow them on my pavement garden. There are of course other varieties of Iris family - the Moraea - which mainly grow in the winter rainfall area in the Cape, but there are a few that grow in the semi tropical grassland of Natal. I have had great success with Moraea inclinata; the flowers start mid summer (January) and go on for at least 3 months. I have been collecting seed for the last 2 months now.

I would have included the Moraea but there are enough of those for a separate article!

I have an iris that looks similar to the Dietes. Can anyone tell me what variety of iris I have?
