Can anyone tell me what is the best landscape lights on the market and which way to go solar or low voltage lighting? Last year I got some solar lights and was very unhappy with them. How do you turn them one and off? What does Low Voltage lights cost? An what do they cost to run them?

Low voltage is going to give you more/better light than solar, and I think they are cheaper to purchase than good solar lights, so if you're up for installing them then I would definitely go that direction. Since they're low voltage they don't use much electricity, so I don't think they'd be very expensive to run. I have solar lights and they're fine for marking where the path is vs where the garden is, but if you actually want people to be able to see things with the lights then you'll be happier with low voltage. As far as turning solar lights on and off--the ones I have each have a switch to shut them off, but some of the cheaper ones might not.

When I was talking about turning them on and off I was talking about the Low Voltage lights.

Oh, sorry, where that question was in your post made me think you were talking about the solar lights you bought last year. I don't have low voltage lights, but I think you can get them in a couple different formats--some will have a photocell so that they'll turn on when it gets dark and off when it's light, or you can set them up on a timer, or I'm sure you can get something instead that would let you turn them on and off manually if they're in an area that you only occasionally want light.
