Are these also known as Hens and Chicks?? thats what everybody calls them around my area :) anyway I have two huge pots on my front porch and they have just about taken over the front porch fallen out of the pots and now growing all over the ground .. etc... They have been there for years... so I just let them stay.. they bloom and all I do is water ever so often...

Hens and Chicks is the common name for litterally hundreds of unrelated species of Echeveria, Semperivum and many other smaller clump-forming Crassulaceae... NOT a good name to go by for identification... not if you want to tell things apart. This plant, however, is one of the few that is NOT called Hens and Chicks.
