Having a problem with air coming into the vents thru the house. Turn it on and does fine then unit keeps running and we check it and there no air thru the vents coming in. We have checked for leaks in duct work and found some and fixed did good for couple of days and started the same again. Hope some one can help me live in florida and have MS and have to stay at certain temps. would like to do myself it can help would greatly appreciate it.
The thing it could be in high humidity areas is your indoor coil (evaporator) could be icing/frosting up and blocking the air flow. Then when the unit shuts off it thaws and airflow is returns until it frosts up again. This can be cased by a dirty/blocked air filter and or coil or a low refrigerant charge.Could also be a bad evaporator fan motor or motor bearings. The fan runs for a while, heats up and then trips out on thermal protection. If and when this happens the compressor should shut down too on a high pressure safety shortly thereafter. I would contact a licensed, bonded AC company to check things out on the unit before more serious damage occurs. Hope this helps.
