I tried growing cannas when I first started planting butterfly and hummingbird plants in 2003. I am pretty sure that I overwatered the rhizomes and they didn't come up. They were also exhibition-type cannas from back East and I planted them to attract butterflies, not to exhibit. Do cannas attract butterflies in Southern California? What kind of canna that attracts butterflies is the most hardy?
I tried googling and I didn't come up with anything on this subject.
Thanks,
Chuck
