When my house flooded during hurricane Gustov we had to redo our house. My husband tore everything out but the studs. Almost through with the house except some trim work. He works away from home so he works on it when he comes home for a week end. My problem is all of this ceramic tile we had put in.The color is rusty with beige and light charcoal in it. IT SHOWS EVERYTHING... When I mop I can see smears. That drives me crazy... I need some type of cleaner to mop with, plus a mop or floor device to clean this tile with. It takes me forever to try to clean it with a SPONGE mop... Any suggestions?

I have a steam mop and really like it--if the floor gets really dirty then you need to change or rinse out the pad frequently or else it can get streaks too, but if the floor's not that dirty I've never had problems. And if you do see smears, it just means there's still dirt there so if you go back over with a clean pad on the steam mop it should come out, it's not like other things where the cleaner itself can leave smears.

I have been thinking about a steam mop. I have ceramic tile in both bathrooms, down the hall, in the great room, dining room, kitchen, sewing room and utility room. I have a lot of tile. I am in a hoveround until I have a hip replacement and another knee replacement. Is the steam mop that you have easy to use?

Thank you for your reply,

Mine's pretty easy to use and it's not too heavy--probably a bit heavier than the sponge mop but it's really not that bad. All you have to do is put a pad on the bottom, fill up the reservoir with water and go. I have tile throughout my entire house and it's the best thing I've found. I hate sponge mops and other things like that because they get too gross too quickly and it's a lot of work with mixing up the cleaner, mopping, rinsing off, etc so I've tried all the "lazy" approaches to mopping from the Swiffer & Ready Mop type of things to the Hoover Floor Mate, and the steam mop is the first one that I really like. The only catch is you really do need to sweep/vacuum first to pick up big stuff like crumbs, but I always did that anyway. Here's the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/Bissell-1867-7-Steam-Hard-Floor-Cleane...

Thanks ecrane3 I'm going to check this out! I think it has got to beat the sponge mop and I am constntly tearing up the sponges. They are not the cheap sponges either.
