Thanks for sharing so much about your garden program. We have a similar one here in NC. check out our blog foodbankgarden.blogspot.com

This is an idea that can develop all over the country. Maybe we need to expand on the Plant a Row for the Hungry, which is a great concept, to the Plant A Garden for the Hungry.

We have almost two acres under cultivation. Last year, before I was involved, the volunteers grew and harvested 15,000 of produce for Second Harvest to distribute to 18 counties in north western NC. It gave many people the opportunity to learn about produce gardens and to share the bounty. And, with the number of hungry people on the rise, this service need will surely grow.

Fresh local food should be for everyone, not just those who can afford it.

2 acres is going to yield a lot of food!

I hope as many people as possible read about these programs and decide to get involved.
