I'm taking advatage of a week of much cooler weather than we normally see this time of year so I'm busy cleaning and editing out flowerbeds to make room for Aug shipment of new rhizomes. I'm also taking this opportunity to dig and divide. I'm wondering if I should be fertilizing this late in the season or should I just ammend w/ compost?
This time of year,my exsisting irises that aren't in need of dividing, are looking fried and tired so I prune the foliage back to neaten them up. Is this an exceptable practice or am I harming next years blooms?
