This window was done for our bathroom, but never made it to the wall box. It was sold before I finished it to a client. From designing to finished product an estimate of 200 hours was involved.
Approximate size: 37" wide x 28 1/2" tall
There are antique jewels in the treasure chest that are 80 plus years old. The mermaid's face and hand, octopus, starfish and skull have been hand painted and kiln fired so the enamels become part of the glass and will last forever. The scales on the mermaid's body, dolphins swimming in the distance and the sea horses are sand carved with multi-staging to give the appearance of being realistic. The dolphins, sea horses and the ship will change their appearance as the light changes through out the day. The lampworking was done in our studio also from the finest of glass and is kiln annealed to ensure no cracking in the glass beads. The glass beads are around the mermaid's hair( also a glass jewel in the middle) , upper arm, wrist, around the skull and a strand of pearls hanging out of the treasure chest.
Make sure you guys check back with us! We will have another mermaid window posted after it is fabricated...ok, when I find some time to do my house that is...praying for one finished light wall box in our house to be filled with a window this year!!!
crystallclear10 - Wow…wish I had seen this before I got so far in my bathroom mural. I wanted to add the bow of a sunken ship. It is beautiful. Is it set in lead came? I noticed the sand on the bottom right looks like some difficult cuts!! Very lovely.
