Did you see a price for this unit, and does a pro have to install it! Interesting , anything to lower our bills and save money! It says this actually saves our unused power for when we need it, but I unplug everything until i need to use it, than I plug it in, use the power source I Need and than I unplug it. I just looked kinda quick, so maybe I'm missing something, but thanks for the site, I hope more people see it, Thanks.

Hmmm! interesting , a 110 dryer? I'd have to ask hubby, I believe ours is 220,, but really, I live in the sunshine state as you do, and really look forward to the smell of our sheets after they've been hanging on the line. I was more curious as to what your original post was all about:), I have a mechanical degree and wasn't quite sure if you purchased this system you had posted and how involved it was , cost wise, and installation? Thanx

Wondered today...do they make on off switches that would work with a 220 circuit and would that make a difference?...If so it would be fairly easy to just switch the appliances you'd want off, rather than unplugging (my washer and dryer plug in well behind the unit so pulling the plug would be a big pain.)

Usually circuits like dryers likely operate on their own electrical circuit. If so, you might turn them off at the circuit breaker in the electrical panel box.

What would that really save though?

Well it says "save and store power otherwise lost from the motors on appliances" ...I had read it to mean there was power loss/ waste all while an appliance was plugged in, so assumed (bad word, lol!) that unplugging or turning the switch off would decrease waste. (And in my house it's not very convenient to go turn it of and on at the breaker). But I don't see that it says precisely how power is lost or harvested with that thingy...

After reading their brochure and the How It Works, I still don't know how much good this thing would do. As near as I can tell, they're talking about a surge protector. They make the point that motors wear with age and part of that aging process is caused by fluctuating voltage coming off the grid. This product proposes to level out the current so the motors are eternally happy without stress or strain. I don't believe that is possible else the power utilities would be selling them.

It is well known that a well worn motor will need a little extra juice to start up and may even cause lights to dim momentarily. That does not mean that we need to throw out all our appliances and buy new ones. With all the built in obsolescence these days, it's a miracle if we get great mileage out of anything and it's not usually the motor that dies first anyway.

If it was that good you would think the appliance people would use the technology on their product to increase the energy rating and sell more product.

Besides, how could measure or compare to see if it was actually doing anything at all? I vote thumbs down.

I think the poster here is a seller of this item? which is why I was grilling him/her, I have easy access to unplugging both my washer and dryer and if I knew this product would work I'd try it. But because I'm already saving money, why spend more to save what???? Give me details, and numbers!!!! I also know that when you click on something, you have the chance of downloading a virus to your computer, and this add he /she posted wants you to download and you can't get enough of a description from the advertisement to make an informative decision so I choose to not download? Than I asked questions, so lets see what happens! And twiggy, grownut, and indy, your thinking the same as me, lets wait and see what phicks responds to this, To phicks, are you using this adapter and what are the results, we're all waiting her to see what you have to say about this gadget

Indy, 3 months ago our electric bill was $367.! We have 2 small dogs, and I cover my furniture with sheets,I hate animal hairs on my furniture,so I did quite a lot of laundry! Than I joined GG, I have learned quite a lot, but I dropped our electric bill to 150.00 a month, by not using the dryer,( for real,)and hanging my laundry out on the line, it takes a shorter time to dry in the florida sun , than it does for an hour in the dryer, and it's free!!!! and using the laundry detergent recipe found on DG, free, everything I can learn to save money here I do, and I'm also into mosaic art, to make money, so maybe see you there? But this has me baffeld! And not as in a muffler, my spelling on that is a little off sorry:(

Jami that surely is enough savings to get excited about. My dryer died in Dec of 07 and I decided I didn't need one. I have the advantage with laundry in that I live alone and can wait for perfect weather.

It's always a pleasure for new folks to post here and I hope you'll hang around.

Phicks is a great gardener and loves green energy gadgets. He'll appear sooner or later to give us his view. Maybe he knows something that we failed to grasp or maybe he was just pulling our legs.

thanks twiggy, I didn't realize he's a regular here, sometimes my antenna goes up,, and I think I smell something fishy, I ask questions, and I don't mean anyone any harm, I, like everyone else am out to further my knowledge on everything I can get my hands on to save money, and go green at the same time. Clicking onto some web sites can be danderous and I have the McAfee site advisor loaded on my laptop, and it'll caution me as to whether I want to open something, so as to not download any virus's. So this was why I wanted Phicks to answer some question's about this device, hey if it'll save us more money, I'm all for it!

I just had high speed internet installed. Im not sure that has anything to do with this - a new quirk.

No matter how many times I turn off my computer - there it is back on again. I finally had to turn off the serge protector to keep the thing OFF.

I guess I need one of Paul's gizmos.

Phicks, I am east of you, On the ocean, between Daytona Beach, and St, Augustine, both are the same distance to get to, We're a very small sleepy quite community, and I really love it. I live 2 blocks from the ocean ( which is A1A ) and 2 blocks from the river, and live on a canal, that allows us access to the river with our boat, forget about the ocean, as I'd never venture out there with a 22 footer, LOL

also, I forgot to add, I couldn't even log on to it, because it didn't know if it wanted to be on of off, so maybe if you can use it, it may be a different problem, the "geek "told me someone had that problem before me, and had never heard of it prior to that, so it could possibly be some kinda minor virus circulating around in "here" not meaning DG, I meant the internet in general, I use foxfire,! Not sure but maybe someone else has had this problem! Need to start a new thread for this problem if someone else has had the problem?

LOL, I just re-read my post and saw I put CL, instead of DG, I think I have too many things going on, CL is for Craigs List, and I post items I have for sale there. The heat is getting to my brain. cue_chik, I lived in Palm Coast for 3 years, flamingo dr, but had such a time being away from Flagler so here I am, back on the beach! I've been keeping things unpluged for some time now, when I moved to PC I had FPL come in 2 different times and do an evaluation on my ome, our electric bill was so high, and we had a pool and a pond in the yard. I could never get that bill to come down, than we moved here after selling the home, we rent now, and again the FPl bills were coming in at $300+/- and we don't have a pool. So I started to hang out my laundry on the line to dry, and watched my bill drop by $100.00, in addition to making my own laundry soap, and using vinegar as a rinse, and now all my friends stop by to get their soap to wash clothes from me, LOL, but I have cut a lot of corners and now my FPL bill is down to around $150+/- and I haven't bought the normal $14.00 jug of gain in a few months or all the extras that you buy to have clean soft laundry, and I think my laundry is better now than it was using the expensive stuff, and no, your clothes don't smell like vinegar, they smell like baby clothes!

And yes cue_chik, my garden is drying up, looking poor, but the tomato plants are nice and green, growing up, due to the rain, but not putting out any buds. I saw on here that as soon as some of this heat dies down, they may produce more than what we can eat, I hope and pray that's the case. I have plenty of peppers, jalapenos, green peppers, and banana peppers. I also have lots of radishes, the 2nd planting, and have been picking green beans here and there, not even enough to make a pot of ham and green beans, but i chop them into my salads. I also have some leaf lettuce that is enough to put on a few sandwhiches, and a squash or two, acorns, so there you have it. No cucumbers, no other squashes, and no green onions even though I planted them. Oh, I could cry at the thought of a lush green garden with everything thriving, LOL, next year I guess, since I've learned so much here! Here is a picture of my peppers, not sure which variety, but there are lots of them, LOL

re computer that wont turn off. I recently had high speed installed and the problem started at that time. If I unplug the cable - problem goes away - so I think it has to do with the high speed connection in my case.
Also - just got my computer back from the shop where they cleaned up some viruses. Nope it wasn't viruses - I got an upgrade from Internet Explorer and suddenly I couldn't get connected --there was some kind of incompatibility. Finally I had to do system restore every time I got hung up.

Well the problem goes away when I unplug the high speed cable. That tells me that's where the problem is. ????? Also I just had my computer checked out because of the IE upgrade that would not allow me to connect due to a tool bar incompatibility. Its been checked out.
