| I've got my old mail box but haven't gotten it "installed" yet. But plan to put gloves & tools inside & across the yard from my GH where I keep my stuff. Wish it was as pretty as yours.
Plan on putting a vine on mine.

| I didn't paint it . On a former thread, Uffie mentioned her dh and her tore the sheet ,and this was a piece he didn't take when she finally got him out . She absolutely didn't want it soooo, I copped it . I didn't know him , but some of his junk was good enough to keep . LOL digger |

| It's beautiful. Mine is plain white. Tell people if it stays still long enough I paint it white. Because it really stands out. Good thing my 2 dogs, Tricki Woo & Tink, are already white.
But, I love your colorful mail box. That doesn't look like trash, it looks like treasure.

| I sure do like it where I put it . It's down a ramp to the front porch and hard to chase tools around . Got room for clippers , marking tape , labels ,different sprinkler , fire ant powder, Neem . Gosh , it's gonna look like my front porch in there . Now I need one for the back yard. D |

Tote it around and then sit it in the garage when done.. lol.. BUT I do love your mailbox and has given me an idea... If this rain ever lets up, we are suppose to start on my daughters fairy garden... And I think I will add a little mail box so that the fairys can leave her special thank you notes, and tokens.. yep yep I can see it now.. Thanks for giving me the idea.. |

| Wow, a window sash, my hubby brought me a window sash home he found at a yard sale, it had a beautiful garden scene painted on it. Well, he hung it and after a few days, I heard this crash , bang, boom, and thought one of my shelves fell in a closet, but upon further investigation, found my new found treasures had fallen and was broken to bits. So he goes out to another yard sale and here's what he found.. I put it behind my master grill in the yard where I hide everything till I figure out what I want to do with it. And now here is the question, any Ideas? I know that you can do mosaic art work on them, have seen it on the net here, but I want some other ideas. Also, as you can see I have a horse hidden out there also, and I know there is a site dedicated to the carasel horse, headed there after posting this, but what can I do with my window sash that would be different than putting it into a hole in the wall? I haven't figured out how the weight of cut glass would hold up on this sash, but have seen some finished work, Oh I'm so excited!!!!!!! Click the image for an enlarged view.

| Well My Goodness, Jamibad, I understand the excitement on getting your "Sash"! As you can see I have started quite a "Sash Stash" myself! the ideas are coming right and left , but I havent had the time to decide what to do yet! I do want to do some reverse paintin on a couple but ... let me tell you...If you dont have patience ... Dont do it! or at least keep it very simple!
My question is for someone out there who has done the painting on glass . If youare going to display Your painted window out side, What medium do you use (acrylic- oil), and how do you seal it with out it turning yellow or discoloring the glass?
I love the new glass paints, but I really love the look of acrylic , or thicker darker colors for out side!
This "found" piece was done in Acrylics , I wouldnt dare put it outside for ruining the colors or "melting " the paint! Click the image for an enlarged view.

| this is a great Idea.. my bestfriend came over one night 'about midnight' to check up on me and when she was backing out of the drive she killed my custom painted frog mailbox...and just in case it wasn't flat enough she ran over it again...but it will be put up flat and all because she pasted away about 2 weeks ago and I can't think of a better way to laugh with her everyday...lol

| digger, I'm not going to do anything with my "sash" yet, as I said I had a beautiful one that my hubby bought from a yard sale, and after he hung it, it crashed, so when he found this beauty, I have it tucked away till I decide what it is I want to do with it, and to froghollowlady, my heart goes out to you and the passing of your friend. I'm glad you can smile through memory's of crazy things you read on here, I hope it helps your heart to heal as it's not easy to lose a friend. My heart is with you! But on the other hand, it is a kind, and funny story you told here, which means you still have that person in your heart. God Bless! a flat frog mail box, and guess what? right now I have more frogs on my back porch than I know what to do with, their worse than Rabbits, get my drift??? And they leave big turds, I'll take a squished flat frog any day, LOL, , Sorry if I offended anyone, didn't mean too. Ciao till tomorrow, Jami |

| Yawwwwn! Uh ,... good morning y'all, Here it is 8:45 and Im just finishing my first cup of coffee... , just got up! Spent a long night just painting! Once I start a project, I am obsessed with getting it finished!
I got the idea of what I wanted on the Sash , and I hopped to it!
First of all I Cheated on the butterflies! I had an old Sketch that I had watercolored in years ago, so I just layed the Sash "back" side down(I was doing Reverse painting here) on the pattern. Then I outlined the butterflies on the right side of the glass, with watercolor Marker. Then I turned the Sash over and then traced the watercolor lines with indelible marker, on the back side of the glass. I then used acrylic paint to fill in color.
It gets a little confusing to remember to paint the details first then the back color last! Especially when you have been at it for a couple of hours and getting waaaaaaay past bed time! LOL!!! Oh yes be sure to let the paint dry between details and back color!
Heres the back side, after painting the detail or top colors first, then covering with the last color. Click the image for an enlarged view.

| Nawwwwwwwwww, its not hard to do just confusing at first! Think Coloring book! Once you get the design down you can fill in the color just remember to paint on the back side so the design is behind the glass! |

| Hope to build something as cute as this. I have a door I am getting with a window up top, I have two shutters from freecycle and also got a pair of french doors maybe from a friend. It will be 9 by 9 and have 3 sides of windows with the north side solid to protect from cold north winds. There is a lot more info on the greenhouse forum under old windows, what to do with them. I searched on the net and found cute ideas for just he windows themselves. You can make a small stanging terrarium greenhouse too. Click the image for an enlarged view.
