Excited to be done with this project, which is replacing the first ball I made (http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/971071/) in the garden. The base for this one was a 12" papercrete sphere; I think the porportions fit the strawberry pot base a lot better.

Thanks! It's fun to look at in the garden now, and know I cut and mortared everyone of those little buggers...LOL!

Finished grouting my mosaic mushroom - I made the substrate with a mix of mulched paper and cement. Then I mosaiced the underside first, with tiles made from recycled dinner plates. Grouted that in grey. Then for the top - the red was sourced by broken coffee mugs and the white, tiles from a friend- left over from a bathroom reno. Grouted also in grey. I hope you like it! It has been quite a journey!

I used quick-set mortar and regular cement-based for mine, but I've read other threads where they used glue and grout. There are lots of threads on DG about bowling ball gazing balls. If you do a search you'll probably get a ton of hits!

I just completed this in June for a friend's 60th birthday. Always stressed until I know it is appreciated and she loved it, so very happy.
