I'm so tired of getting eaten alive when I go out to the garden. I've got these little black bugs, they fly and some have small white spots. The bite, and bite hard. What are they, and how do I get rid of them?

Can you give a little more detail? Are they the size of a pea? dime? quarter?
Are they round like a ladybug? Oblong like a wasp etc?

Do you have salt marsh mosquitoes in NC? They are small, fly, are black with small white spots, bite hard and will eat you alive.

Sorry, every time I think I'm going to have time to hang out and get to learn something from all of you, life happens.

Anyway, they really small = I don't think I could photo one of them. They sort of look like a mosquito or a really skinny fly. NOT a beetle for sure. If you get lucky enough to smash the little bugger, it's all blood and no body left to see what it was.

Gee! Do we have a mystery bug? We have flying insects here that bite but are not big enough to leave blood spots. We call them No see ums. They're a pain.
