    Hi Sharon:

Newbie here from North Georgia. That red wild flower in the upper right hand of this page. Any idea on the name? I discovered one...just one lonely flower around July 1st on my wooded property.

    Thanks in Advance:)

    Hey KD...
That's Firepink or Scarlet Catchfly, not sure what you might call them down in Georgia, but that's a common name. You can go to Plant Files here on DG and get their botanical name, because for the life of me I can't remember it.

Nice to have you on DG, and great that you have the Firepink, too. I love them, and that's why I used the photo.

    Happy Gardening!

Thanks for the super quick response. Sure would be nice to have more than one. It didn't bloom for more than a week or two.

I've found a source, but being so new to this stuff...I'll probably overdo it. I do have many areas that need ideas.

Silene, that is the botanical name I couldn't remember. Here's a page in Plant Files that gives a bit of info. Read what the one person said about scattering seeds after it blooms:

    http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2633/

If you do that, you might have a little patch of them next summer. You could also google Silene and maybe find some answers. I don't have any here, since I am in western KY, but it grew all over in the mountains of SE KY where I grew up.

    We cross posted.

Look at borage...it is a lovely little blue flower, too, if you like wild flowers.

You won't over do, just try and see what happens.

Yes, wildflowers interest me. I have a nice area for it too. Probably won't get around to it for awhile.

    That is a beautiful website.

Someday soon, I would like to find a place that looks very much like yours.
    Thank you.

    Thanks Sharon:

I'm just so thankful I found this place..or the great RE agent I had found it. It's perfect for me. Small cabin but ideal. I'm working on some before and after pics that may interest you.
