My 5 yr old canister, Kenmore, smells awful whenever I turn it on. There is a new bag in it. HELP!!

Does your vac have filters anywhere? You might check them and see if they need to be cleaned or replaced.

Is it a burning smell? The belt may need replacing.

Not a burning smell; just a bad one. yes, I am in need of a new filter. That may help?

Glad that worked! I couldn't think of where else smells would be trapped, so I'm glad that did it!
