OK, I have read about not planting again in soil that has grown members of the nightshade family (tomatoes, peppers, potatoes) as they deplete the soil. If that is the case, can it be amended? I mean after all what do tomato farmers do? Now, I have all my peppers and tomatoes in containers, so as to not fight the gophers, does that mean I have to dump all that soil before planting winter veggies or even spring's summer veggies? That is an expensive proposition! Does anyone have experience in this? I am going to double post this question in the Tomato forum.
As long as your plants didn't have any kind of disease that might remain in the soil, you can reuse it. What I do is dump all the "used" soil into a pile and mix in a little fresh soil and compost and use again.
