In the spring I mourned the passing of my passy, which I left outside, planted in the ground, with no protection other than the shelter of a porch foundation. I pulled the dead plant and moved on to work on other things in my garden.
Tonight I moved a pot, and look what was lurking behind it. The vine set no fruit last year, the only thing I can think is that a portion of the root system close to the house foundation somehow got under the driveway concrete and managed to find enough heat to overwinter. Although it took a bit of time for it to regenerate, now it has sent up this happy little shoot.

She's about a foot tall right now, but we still have several months of growth left. She may even get to bloom before the season ends.
Woohoo!!! :)
