Had we known before buying three of these trees that the 'fruit/berries' do not stay on the trees, we would have passed them by. The yards are a mess from the dropping berries and the clean up is horrible. We didn't know that animals would 'eat' the berries, or that the dogs could become ill from them. A vet said that the camphor could elevate the animals heart rate. (How awful.) Now we're waiting for a guy to come next week to overhaul the yards and cut down all three camphor trees and get them out of here. Dogs are rough on grass, but the dropping of thousand of berries at a time has smothered the grass. Trying to clean up even most of the berries seemed a waste of time and energy. We need good shade in both yards, but are leery of what kind of trees to use now...as back yard is long and narrow and roots can't grow to our water line, gas line or sewer. The only plus we found for the camphor trees??? Good as a bug repellent. Good-bye camphor trees!
