This spring some kind of insect bored deep holes in the buds of my favorite peony bush. The holes were about 1/4" in diameter. When I opened up the buds I did not find any worm inside. The same insect chewed the stems of the plant. It looked almost like cutworm damage, but it was near the top of the plant rather than at soil level. Does anyone know what could have done this?
