My co-op irises are here and I'm going to plant some out tomorrow. On the instruction sheet it says she usually fertilizes them at the end of the season and in spring. Should I not use anything that would fertilize them when I plant? I have a layer of compost over everything but it would be easy enough to take it off where I'm mounding up the dirt for the irises. Or I could leave the compost there and mound up dirt on top of it for the rhizomes? Also my thought was to use Bulb-Tone for them but I'm not sure how to apply it for something that isn't actually buried.
