I love my Azolla- I have a bunch of it in my pond, and I think it looks gorgeous. The fish nibble on its roots, but it doesn't seem to hurt it at all. The frogs love to poke their heads up through it and float in patches of it. It also gives thirsty bees a place to land and drink water.
