My interst in dahlias initially began as an awareness of the larger ones grown by my grandmother years ago. I have also peripherally been aware that they are edible. When Jamlover offered me some to try (for growing) I could not resist, having a long term interest in unusual edibles (thanks JAM!). They are doing quite well, so I am expecting to be able to store some tubers for the winter.
I have heard that some tubers never develop eyes, so these become good candidates for consumption, in much the same way as yacon (a close relative). Anybody here have any experience with tuber consumption or consumption options for the rest of the plant (if feasible)? I know this may be shocking to some of you truly dedicated dahlia fans, but thought I might be able to get an answer to this question here.
Do you nibble on your dahlias?? Come on, confession is good for the soul!
