VASSUP DG'ers!

Meet the FIRST in the series "bleu blanc"

This one has bred TRUE from seed for 5 years now in my garden, VARIEGATED ipomoea tricolor!

She is stunning when covered in full blooms and TRUE variegated leaves! The star shape also breeds true, sometimes the variegation carries over to the flowers as well, either way she is a stunner growing through by giant pink Calystegia hybrid that explodes with blooms

I am waiting for my my VARIEGATED wedding bells to bloom however the bloom is slightly off colour as she was bred to this one but has MAGICAL hybrid vigour! Soon you will meet "Princess Rose"

My faint blue star x summer skies 1991 was crossed with ultra light is ready to bloom; last year she produced blooms that look EXACTLY like summer skies with the odd fleck, pale green stems and rusty tan coloured seeds. He is called "bleu royal"

Ipomoea tricolor has been hard to create the cross, variegation and star shaped bloom but I have been using a combination of 2 mutagens and viral transposal element, it also involves micro propagation, I won't tell you what the mutagen is but through detailed copies of hand written notes from Darold Decker that I got from Cornell University it all makes sense.

They all breed true to type from seed and I CAN'T wait to post photos here and share seeds with my very close inner circle of friends. Not one of these seeds will be sold as I am a true believer that seed of moring glory should be traded freely no strings attached or grow outs that have terms and conditions that change

The combination of the 2 mutagens allows you to created hybrids between ipomoea nil x purpurea and close species like my CALYSTEGIA hybrids. I have also been able to create an african violet chimera, variegated penstemon and variegated aspidistra Elatio and some tetra ploid 5 foot lavatera that is so heavy with blooms the branches need support.

Just think if you knew what was causing these mutations and how to do it you too could create plants that nobody else has..the gardening world would be your oyster..if we only had hummingbirds here imagine the exciting colour combination as the vines would come alive

I will post the other mutated plants for your gardening pleasure..
