I am new to cannas but I love how they look, so I planted three tropicanas a few weeks ago. They're growing like crazy and seem to be reproducing. These are pictures of some new small shoots underneath the bigger plants. I took these pictures only a week ago and these shoots are already a lot bigger!
A few questions:
1. Is this how the plant reproduces?
2. I've seen mention of rhizomes - how and when do I find them?
3. Can I dig up these shoots and move them? I tried, a little, but they seem to be deep-rooted already so I didn't proceed.
4. I've seen instructions to cut the plant down to 4" in the winter. Really? That small? Even here in hot Zone 10B?
Thanks for any advice. They are beautiful plants. My space is limited so I'd be glad to share extra plants if I knew how!
