A friend passed this along, and since I found a nice roast marked down cheap, I thought I'd try it. It's one of the best crock pot pot roasts I've had, the juices are super tasty, the veggies I added in had a really nice taste too. Her advice, I used the low sodium versions I could find. I always cut up an onion and put in the bottom of the crock.
1 beef roast, any cut
1 package brown gravy mix, dry
1 package Italian salad dressing mix, dry
1 package ranch dressing mix, dry
1/2 cup water
Place roast in crock pot.
Mix the dried mixes together in a bowl and sprinkle over the roast. (I rubbed the roast on all sides with the mix, and then sprinkled what was left over the top)
Pour the water around the roast.
Cook on low for 7-9 hours.
