I have a very beautiful Rose of Sharon and it has not spread out like most do , it has just gotten tall. Can I crop it back and hope for more fullness?

Is this the plant we have that is commonly known as mallow? Ours has squiggly snake like lines on the leaves. Whats the problem please?

The squiggly snake lines sounds like you have a case of leaf miners.

After your Rose of Sharon has bloomed, you can cut it back and it will send out side shoots.

Thanks . It is just getting tall and I want it to bush out more and didn't know if it could be cut back to make it do so.

can2grow...Thank you so much for the heads up on the leaf miners. Tried ( perhaps not long enough) to find this blight on DG. Unable to find it but now that I know what it is I looked in my Jerry Baker book and found a formula to get rid of this. Simple, 3 large rubarb leaves boiled and strained, 1 gal water, and 1/4 cup liquid dish soap.Thank you so much for identifying our problem!
