I bought a small Hydrangea 'Limelight' two years ago. It seems happy where it's at - part shade/sun, gets supplemental watering when it's dry and it's currently blooming rather nicely. Question I have is that there is only one tall branch, straight up, about 3 1/2 ft tall that then branches out with the flower clusters. The rest of the branches have stayed low to the ground, at most a foot tall, with more of a horizontal habit than upright. Is this a normal growth pattern or is there some pruning I should be doing for it?
