Hi, it has been awhile since I have posted on DG,
nice to be back.
A friend asked my dh what would be a "foam" that forms on the base of his tree after heavy rain.
I figure it is some kind of fungus, but thought I would ask you experts!

It would seem that folks need more information than what has been provided. I have never seen anything like what you have described here.

Could be a slime mold. A picture would help :).
