This is a Sarah Bernhardt needing to be moved although it is a bit early. I had three of them
beginning to crowd each other so it will be no great loss if it croaks. It is amazing to me how
the root system can become so entangled after only about 5 years. Most peony people say
the clump should always be divided down to 5 or 6 eyes so the remaining roots can feed the
new growth the first year. Also, wait a day before dividing so the large roots are not so
crisp in order to prevent breaking them while dividing. Any other sage advice would be
appreciated.
