A woman who was taken ill, and has returned home from several weeks in a strange hospital in the British Virgin Islands has something growing in her bathroom sink. I think she's so amazed that she'll just let it stay. In the meantime, she'd be interested in what it might be. See:
LOL, she's very freaked out about it, but hasn't tidied up. Life in the Islands strolls to a different beat. She only brushes her teeth and splashes her face, no hot water in the summer here, don't need hot water, need cool water.
I'm sorry if anyone is grossed out. The corrosion is a normal part of life in the Caribbean, salty air makes pretty things go crusty. Here's what she said:
"22 Days in the hospital and I came home to this!
What is it? Can you identify it?
YES, I know it's plant matter!
This was found growing in my bathroom sink. Matter of fact, it still is! Despite repeated teeth brushing with Sensodyne toothpaste, it still grows. Now that gives cause to pause...
If I only use my bathroom sink for splashing water on my hot face and brushing my teeth, then did this fall off my face OR out of my teeth?
What was I eating that had live seeds in it? I wonder.
I mean,,, I know it's summer when I do not add any hot water to my shower. Only turn on the 'cold'. In the winter/spring I do add a little hot to make a nice warm shower.
Visiting Virginia long ago I mindlessly turned on the cold water in the kitchen sink to wash my hands and stuck both hands under the fawcet-- OW!!! That icy water was so cold it stung my hands! Yukkkk! How do they stand living there?
LOL, we don't use hot water in the summer either. We turn the dial to cold and enjoy a nice warm shower. There are times when a cold shower would be refreshing but by the time the water cools off so does the weather and we no longer need that cold shower.
If no hot water is flushed down that sink's drain, I guess she could let it grow out its first leaves so we can see the true leaves sprout and ID it. Many people have plants in their bathrooms, why not have one growing out of the drain for a bit? It really causes no harm, aside from a few roots down the pipes. By the time an ID can be established, she could pull it out of the drain and either plant it or destroy it. It's amazing how easily things grow in the tropics. As I always say, if you plant a slice of bacon in the tropics, you'll grow pigs in no time.
Probably better to take it out now. Being still small it would take to transplanting and she could see the type of seed it's coming from. And then it could grow up in a pot without danger of being toothpasted out of existence.
