I have apples; peaches; pears; plums; blackberries; blueberries; figs; serviceberries; watermelons; pineapple guava; pomegranates and soon goumi and of all of these

blueberries and my fuyu persimmons are the least pest-plagued and the tastiest! I see why persimmon is fruit of the Gods! I live in 8a and am going to learn to graft so I can afford some more persimmons and get a matsumoto wase fuyu (Matsumoto's early fuyu) to extend the fruiting season.

The fuyu persimmons are very sweet and I can almost taste the vitamin A like with Pejibaye palm from Costa Rica, another favorite but unfortunately too tropical for me.

There is supposed to be a sudden-death problem that a friend in the Southern Fruit Fellowship warned me about though, hence I really want to learn to graft them to the native persimmons to always have a supply of these beauties.

Thanks for a great article and the Univ. of Perdue link!!!!
