Someone posted that they cannot find Vermiculite or Perlite. Being told that they are toxic. (I'm sorry I cannot find your post)
They are not toxic. The below is a quote, the answer to my question on another board here, the self-contained box gardens forum:
"A few years ago one of the vermiculite mines was found to have some asbestos
in it and everyone got scared of all vermiculite. Only that one mine was contaminated.
And it was closed. As for as I know perlite is O.K. but I am careful about the dust.
