I find weeding a sort of zen experience. Most office work entails abstractions. With weeds, they're there, then they're not-- really obvious satisfaction. My mind just goes to another place. I received a great piece of advise for those who are compulsive weeders. At the end of the day (or week or whatever), visit your garden with a cocktail in you hand (or iced tea or lemonade for the abstainers). With your hands full, you'll be less tempted to pull and more likely to enjoy the scenery.
