This has been such a weird season for me and for my neighboring fellow plumeria growers. They all say the same thing: not much blooming this season; inflo's aborting regularly; small flowers and pale colors. Well, we finally got some real heat yesterday and today -- the kind of heat that plumerias thrive in. Unfortunately, the heat also caused about five fires to break out in the dry brush and mountain areas of California -- terrible for animals and home owners, but this is the kind of heat that plumerias need to do well. I can tell you that inflo's are popping up now on most of the plumerias that I have planted in the ground -- including a few seedlings which will be first-time bloomers. So this is the beginning of the season for me. If the fall is cool, it will be a very short season. If the fall lasts through October or even November, then I should be able to see quite a bit more blooms. I'll be setting up a greenhouse this winter to try and prolong the season if I can. I hope everyone is getting an abundance of flowers!
