My new neighbor was moving in today, and a few fronds(?) of her christmas cactus broke off. I rescued the bits and want to get 'em growing again. The original plant and the rescued fronds are a little "bony" looking from being underwatered.
What's the best way for me to proceed with these "cuttings"? These seem like they need a different kind of care than the other stuff I've tried to grow from cuttings.
I think you treat them like any other cutting, replant them in their own little pot and wait for them to root and grow. My mum had a few fonds fall off her cactus the other day and wasnt sure what to do with them so she just repotted them, whether its the right thing to do im not entirely sure, but they still look healthy so far! I would be interested to see whether my mum was right or not!
Thats what i do with mine and each little segment will grow a new plant. Hope you injoy your new plants. I think they're beautiful all through the year and of course more so at Christmas.

Whoo hoo... It's been about six weeks since I potted up those fronds, and despite the bigger chunk not "fleshing up" as fast as the littler ones... She's giving me a flower!
