I live in the Williamette Valley in Oregon. We have had a very dry summer for us and for the very first time I planted an Agave Leaved Eryngium. I have it in a very good spot according to all I have read but maybe did not water quite enough. It is beginning to turn brownish and drying out and I cannot find any information as to how to treat these for the fall and winter months. Do I cut the stock off and when do I do this. It did well this first year and is about 4-5 feet tall but could look better and next year (providing it comes back) I will be better informed as to water. Can use all the info I can get. I did not know I could post a photo, next time I will. Thanks

I'd never heard of this plant before, but it looks very similar to Eryngium yuccifolium, that I do grow, and I have a feeling their culture is similar.
Mine tolerates dry conditions and clay soil like a trouper. It may be your plants nature to start browning at this time of year. I don't think they require much moisture, my Yucca leaved Eryngium are from seed, and the seedlings were planted last year when we had a terrible drought. They were also in the path of some backhoe work we had done last fall and had a bunch of heavy clay dumped on top of them. They survived it all like troupers, and even returned to bloom for me this year!
