At least I think it might be Word that is the problem but I am not sure and that is why I am asking the experts.

A friend, who knows less than I do about computers, is having trouble forwarding emails. Whenever she forwards something long blocks of space appear between the lines. Sometimes it looks like a blank screen because the message can be so far down on the page. I figure something is set incorrectly - but what?

Any ideas sincerely appreciated.

When you say forwarding do you mean she is trying to send a Word document as an attachment or is she copying and pasting it into an email?

No, if she copies and pastes she is fine. It just happens when she gets an email and tries to forward it to others.

That has nothing to do with Word then, it's something with whatever email program she's using (would probably help to know what program that is). Do all the spaces show up on her end before she sends the message, or does it look fine on her end and then the people on the other end see all the spaces? If it's on her end, is she able to delete the extra lines out before she sends it? I realize that's not the most convenient solution but until someone figures out what's causing it in the first place that could be a temporary fix. If it looks fine on her end but is showing up weird on the other end, then it may be a problem with the other person's email not hers.

She uses Embarq and it does look fine on her end when she is forwarding so she can't delete random spaces she doesn't see. It only appears to everyone she forwards to, not just one person so it can't be the receiving persoms email. After hearing all our complaints she forwarded something to herself and actually saw the problem. This gal is secretary to an organization and frequently has to forward emails to a group.

'tis a puzzlement.

Is she using the web-based email from Embarq or an email application like Outlook or Outlook Express (configured to use Embarq)?

Has she tried other free email services like Hotmail, Gmail, etc? If so, does she get the same results?

It does sound like a problem with Embarq until more details are provided.

Outlook Express configured to use Embarq.

That is a good idea to try gmail or something. That is easy enough to try.
