My buddy gave me an Iris that was potted in a one-gallon pot. He told me that it needed to be transplanted to a 2-gallon pot and kept out of the sun. Let me explain something. We are located in Southern California and last week the day's hight temp was 111.4 degrees F. Today it only got up to 104.5 degrees F. I have some questions that I would like to ask the Iris experts. First of all, I already transplanted the Iris plant yesterday night at ten pm so it would be cooler. Was I supposed to have cut the leaves back? The leaves were doing fine and there was no yellow or brown on the them. What is a good temp to put the plant back in the sun? Should the rhizome be showing above the soil? I have one pup on my plant and that will be the one that will bloom next year, right?
Thanks,
Chuck
