What are some plants I can use from my garden, to put in my freshwater fish tank?? I need some short for small fry as well as some tall plants. I have a 45 gallon hex. tank, no direct sunlight in the room where the tank will be placed. ((if that helps))

There aren't any that I can think of. For a tank that size you really should go to a pet store (mostly all of them have aquarium fish and supplies) and invest the few dollars for proper underwater plants.

I've been looking into plants and one that I am trying out is Mondo Grass. Although not a true aquatic species it is sometimes sold for aquariums. So far so good (see my blog updates), I like that Mondo Grass can be bought in dwarf varieties which would be great for egg layers, liverbearers and their fry to hide in.

Do you keep your mondo grass bound in a clump in the tank?
